Soft pull vs hard pull for business funding, plain language for Florida and Georgia owners. Soft inquiry first; partners may hard-pull later with notice.
If you run a business in Florida or Georgia and you need working capital, one of the first questions that comes up is credit. Will applying ding my score? Will a lender pull hard before I even know if the product fits?
Soft pull vs hard pull, in plain terms
Here is the plain version. A soft pull (soft inquiry) is a credit check that does not usually change your personal credit score the way a hard inquiry does. A hard pull (hard inquiry) is the kind of check most people associate with a new loan or card application. Hard inquiries can show on your consumer credit report and may affect score for a period of time, depending on the bureau and your file. Soft pull business funding aims for a first look without treating the first click like a loan closing.
Legacy Loan Brokers is a broker, not the lender. Checking options here uses a soft inquiry and will not hard-pull credit on that first step. A partner you later choose may run their own check; we will say so before that happens.
Why owners ask for a soft-pull first look
Owners ask about soft-pull first looks for practical reasons. You may already be shopping a bank, an SBA path, or another broker. You may have a recent inquiry from equipment, a line of credit, or a personal card. You do not want five hard pulls while you are still comparing structures. A soft look does not mean guaranteed approval. It means the first gate is lighter. Partners still decide whether to offer capital and on what terms. Nothing is funded until you agree with a lender. We do not publish rates, factors, or “as low as” numbers on this site.
What a soft inquiry is useful for
A soft inquiry is useful for a first-pass read on whether MCA or other working-capital options are even in range, a way to talk about bank statements, monthly revenue, and use of funds without pretending the deal is closed, and less noise on your personal credit while you are still deciding. On this desk, the apply flow is a lead form: you, the business, and the funding need. We do not collect Social Security numbers, dates of birth, bank logins, or ID photos in that first app. Bank statements and ID usually come later, only if a partner asks.
When a hard pull happens
A hard pull typically shows up when a lender or provider is ready to underwrite in earnest. That is normal in traditional lending. It is not the same thing as filling out a broker lead form. The honest sequence is soft look first on this site’s apply step, then a conversation about fit, documents, and structure, then an introduction to a partner when the file makes sense, then clear notice if that partner will run their own check — including a hard pull — before you authorize it. Soft pull at the front does not erase those limits: we cannot approve you, lock a rate, or say a partner said yes until they did.
Where we work
This desk’s first corridor for solicitation is Florida and Georgia. We also take online applications from other open states. We do not take applications from a published stay-out list that includes Virginia, Texas, California, New York, and others — see the FAQ. Working capital here usually means a merchant cash advance conversation first. Term loans and lines of credit are on the form when they fit.
What a soft pull does not change
Soft pull does not mean no underwriting ever. Partners still care about business revenue and consistency, time in business, existing advances or stacked positions, bank activity and use of funds, and whether the structure matches cash flow. Soft-pull business funding language describes the first inquiry type, not the full economics of a funded deal. If you already have several advances and thin cash flow, a soft look can still lead to a hard “not a fit” from partners. That is better than a surprise hard pull and a rushed yes.
Who this isn’t for
This path is not for you if you need a same-day personal loan with no business revenue behind it, want a guaranteed approval or a published rate on a blog post, operate in a stay-out state and expect us to route around that, will not share basic business facts when asked, or need us to be the lender. We are not. Partners fund; you agree with them, or you walk.
Next step
If you own or operate in Florida or Georgia (or another open state), and you want a soft-pull first look at working capital options, start your soft-pull application. That is the only apply link we want you to use from this post. We shop partners. We do not lend. Soft inquiry on the check; partner checks only with notice before they happen.
Legacy Loan Brokers is a business-funding broker, not the lender. We review files for Florida, Georgia, and online. Funding is placed with third-party partners and is subject to their review. Checking options uses a soft inquiry and does not hard-pull your credit. We do not publish a street address on this site.
